Google Calendar

I think Google should now change their strategy of naming their products. Funny thing is all of them are marked Beta Products. Gmail Beta, Froogle Beta, Maps Beta and now Calendar Beta. Only difference between the first three and and the last one is that first three are much more stable and usable than the last one. Calendar Beta is really really a beta product. I tried using it for wedding invitations and ended up hitting my head with wall. Word of caution for wise .. (contd.)

  • When you send out multiple invitations, all of them are not delivered.
  • No confirmation of who did and who didn't get your invites.
  • After your number of invitations turn to 2 digits, AJAX backend is a nightmare. Response to your Change to Event comes back after 30-60 seconds. Imagine yourself sitting on dialup and waiting for response from server for 60 seconds.
  • It doesn't provide a feature to resend invitations (could be workaround for the previous flaw)

Finally I dumped Google Calendar over Drupal RSVP module. If you received multiple invitations (one from Google Calendar and other from nbytes) for wedding, Now you know why :-).
